Beginning Acting for TV and Film

Learn about acting for TV and the business side of the industry. You will study acting styles for various scripts that may be used, from period costume scripts to modern drama or comedy. Learn how to break down scripts to find the sub-text that will help you interpret the script more convincingly. A camera will be used in each class while students learn to act through the use of scripts, improvisation, memory recall and specialized exercises. Learn how to present yourself with the correct resume and photos as well as finding an agent and locating casting notices for both union and non-union work. Please bring a VHS tape to class. Voice-Over Techniques: Commercials-Animations-Narration

This workshop emphasizes skills for voice-over, animation and narration performance for radio, television and film. Included is instruction and practice in the American standard for broadcast speaking, character readings, diction, pronunciation, vocal levels, microphone techniques, script marking and cold reading. These techniques and skills are the tools needed to perform scripts in the VOICE-OVER and VOICE-ACTING field. Class also includes vocal exercises, proper carriage, breathing, and discussions of studio etiquette with the unwritten rules that must be observed when working as a voice talent. Suggestions and guidelines on marketing one�s talent complete the course and a certificate is presented at the final class. Your instructor is a voice-over actor with over 30 year�s experience. Toward the end of the course, students will record in a professional recording studio and at the completion of the course each student will receive a CD and Certificate. ADVANCED TV/FILM ACTING

Advanced TV/Film acting workshop taught by Betty Lougaris.

This on-going advanced MGI Workshop is open and held every Wednesday, * from 7 P.M. to 9 p.m. at IHOP meeting room located in Summerlin at 9651 TRAILWOOD DRIVE, LV 89134

(CLOSE TO TOWN CENTER DRIVE & SUMMERLIN PARKWAY...ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE VONS SHOPPING CENTER WHERE MCDONALDS IS LOCATED.

Here is how you get there: if you take the Summerlin parkway, traveling West, exit at TOWN CENTER DRIVE and turn right. Go halfway around the Round-about, and turn on Trail Wood Dr. Just on the left is a Shell oil station and on the right is the IHOP. It is across the street from the hoppig center that has a Starbucks McDonald's and Von Markets.

If you take the 215 going North -pass the Charleston exit, then turn Right onto the Summerlin Parkway traveling East. Exit at Town Center Drive, turn left, drive under the Overpass, go halfway around the Round-about, and turn onto Trail Wood Dr....turn left into the shopping area where Shell Oil and IHOP are located. Go to the West end of the building.

Workshop fee: $10.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members. MGI provides water, Iced Tea and Coffee.

The goal of the MGI Advanced Workshop is to continue to improve, sharpen and enhance our VO and Acting skills. Participants are able to work on broadcast projects to build their professional credit sheet. Participants may also benefit their community by recording Public Service Messages to educate and help their local community. In addition, we often work with other experts to augment our knowledge and skills in areas of relaxation, breathing, vocal development and interpretation.
